A different trip from the one originally advertised. Chair, Graham Walsh, has requested the branch social travels to Egerton/Bromley Cross to survey some of the pubs that branch members visit less often. The pubs to visit are all on Blackburn Road and Darwen Road. This trip does involve some walking although the No. 1 bus runs regularly (every 20 minutes along Blackburn Road) so can be used to travel from some of the pubs. If unsure of the locations there is a map posted below. You can also print off a copy of the map here.
The group will meet at 1.00pm at the Cross Guns and then travel down Blackburn Road until meeting with Darwen Road. The following pubs are included.
Cross Guns, 390 Blackburn Road, BL7 9TR. 2 changing beers. Food served from 12.00
Thomas Egerton, 227 Blackburn Road, BL7 9SR. 4 changing beers. Food served from 12.00
Masons Arms, 156/158 Blackburn Road, BL7 9SB. 2 changing beers
Flag Inn, Arnold Road (off Darwen Road), 6 changing beers, Food from 12.00
Nook & Cranny, 211/213 Darwen Road,3 changing beers
Catch the No.1 bus at Bolton Bus Station to the Cross Guns at 12.35 (12.13) arriving at 12.59 (12.37), earlier times in the brackets. After visiting the Nook & Cranny there is a choice of walking back to Blackburn Road to get the bus (after 6pm they are every 30 minutes) or alternatively it is a short walk to Bromley Cross Railway Station. Trains to Bolton run once an hour at 9 minutes past the hour. Check times of trains before travelling as they can be changed.
