On St George’s Day we presented the prestigious Pub of the Year Award to Great Ale at the Market . Congratulations to Anne and Steve whose hard work have made the bar a great success. The local ales and ciders dispensed from its unique position in Bolton Market have attracted both new customers and a loyal following. We also wish the team every success with their new bar in the Vaults of the Market Place.
The Spring Pub of the Season award went to the Crown at Horwich . Following a sympathetic refurbishment, the long-time Good Beer Guide entry now serves not only a range of Holt’s beers but also local breweries Bank Top, Blackedge and Dunscar Bridge. The presentation will take place during the May Mild Trail on 14th May – see the home page for details.
If you are wondering how the Branch decides Pub awards, the shortlists are drawn up based largely on scores submitted by members visiting Branch pubs. Any member can contribute scores using whatpub.com or by emailing scores to pubs@bolton.camra.org.uk. Find out more about beer scoring at www.camra.org.uk/nbss
