Welcome to the latest update from your CAMRA Branch
Christmas is usually one of the happiest times of year and normally the busiest for our pubs and breweries. Unfortunately the latest spike in COVID cases, and some of the measures taken to help deal with this, have led to more pressures on a beer industry that is still trying to recover from the last 21 months.
CAMRA continue to campaign alongside industry bodies to warn against measures which turn people away from pubs without support across the whole supply chain.
You can help in your own way by supporting your local pub. Many are offering great seasonal beers at the moment.
If you don’t feel comfortable going out (or can’t), there are still ways you can support local breweries over the festive period. Bank Top, Blackedge, Escape and Northern Monkey all offer take-away or delivery services. Some local pubs will also offer take-out on cask beer.
Christmas Social
The Branch is hosting an informal Christmas Social on Thursday 30th December, visiting some of the great pubs of Chorley. Meet at 1.00pm at the Crown on Chapel Street, close to both bus and rail stations. Full details are on the social pages of the Branch website.
Hopefully there won’t be any further restrictions which prevent the social going ahead but please keep an eye on the news and on the website for any late changes.
Next Meeting
All being well, the next Branch meeting is Tuesday 11th January 2022, 7.30pm, The Beer School Westhoughton. We will be providing some cheer with an exclusive quiz alongside the usual Branch business. As usual there will be great beer alongside some of the best ciders in the area.
All welcome to come along to Branch meetings and socials, including non-members.
And finally, we wish all our members, their families and friends a happy Christmas and a safe and peaceful New Year.
