The Hen and Chickens on Deansgate has introduced a discount scheme for CAMRA members.
Local cask ales are discounted by 50p a pint to £2.50 for card-carrying members. Recent offerings have included ales from Big Clock, Lytham Brewery, Bank top, Dunscar Bridge, Black Edge and Reedley Hallows.
Regular beers include a house ale ‘Clucking Mad’ at £1.75 a pint and Thwaites Nutty Black at £1.70 a pint.
Additional handpumps are to be introduced shortly at Downtown, Bradshawgate, bringing the total to four. Plans are in the pipeline to stock ales from Hogarths.
Branch members were made welcome at The York on Newport Street during a visit after the January meeting. The Hobgoblin Gold was very well kept, and a good time was had.

The Moss Rose, Kearsley, closed on 4th January. It is unlikely that Punch Taverns will re-open the pub.
The Pineapple, Astley Bridge, appears to have closed again.
