The Dumfries & Stewartry CAMRA Branch will be holding a “Folk & Ale Festival” in Dumfries on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th July 2011.

The Festival is unlike others throughout the country.  It is a ‘foot festival’ and it takes in all the real-ale pubs in the town. This year they hope to have 11 town-centre pubs selling cask ales – with around 45 different ales on tap for the 15th/16th July. Think of the benefits!  Walk the ‘Dumfries Ale Trail’ – sample some great beers and have entretainment and exercise thrown in for good measure.

As the name suggests, they are also liaising with local folk song enthusiasts to run a joint “Folk ‘n Ale” event.  There will be various musical events running on the Friday evening and all day Saturday – most notably an open-air folk concert in the High St. and a busking competition in the town centre streets.

The finer details of the Festival are still being planned and a full Festival Programme will be available at the beginning of July.  However in the meantime, the information will be updated on their website www.dumfriescamra.org.uk as soon as it is available.
