The May branch meeting at Great Ale at the Market was well attended, and members enjoyed the ales and the food laid on – many thanks to Steve and Anne for their hospitality.

The guest speaker at the meeting was Alex Parkinson of Drink Up Brewing (DUB). We learned that DUB will shortly be taking delivery of a 2 x 10 barrel plant to compliment their 20 litre test kit, on which he has been trying out different brews. The first batch was on sale at Stockport Beer Festival. There were two beers there – DUB Fire and a version of DUB Fire dry-hopped with Sorachi Ace hops.  Alex’s aim is to be experimental and make lots of different beers.

Other news:

  • The Hen & Chickens have just taken delivery of Bag-in-Box real ciders. These will
be available soon, although it is not clear if these will be a permanent addition to the
    bar
  • Branch membership now stands at 820.
  • The Spread Eagle at Kearsley is closed
  • The Queen Anne on Junction Rd has recently has Robinsons Beers on the bar,
lately Dizzy Blonde and Old Tom.
