BOLTON BEER AND CIDER WEEK 3rd- 12th JULY 2026
During this week we will be looking to work with pubs and clubs across the town to:
- Promote quality real ale, cider and perry
- Provide opportunities to learn more about production and styles of beer and cider
- Give opportunities to try a range of beers and ciders
- Promote and the improve the beer and cider scene in Bolton
Suggestions are:
- Mini-beer festivals
- Meet the Brewer events
- Tap takeovers
- Tasting evenings
- Launch of new beers
- Beer/cider food matching
- Beer-based quizzes
- Film nights

Saturday 4th July – Bowls Tournament – 1pm
Bowls Tournament at The Kings Head in Deane.
Building upon the success of recent years the Crown Green Bowls Tournament will again be at The King’s Head, 52/54 Junction Road, Deane, Bolton, BL3 4NA. Starting at 1pm on Saturday 4th July.
Suitable for total beginners along with experienced bowlers. At close of play there will be optional pie and peas costing £3.50 per person. The tournament itself is free of charge.

Saturday 11th July – Jumbles Jaunt Beer Walk
This year we are doing the walk around The Jumbles Reservoir in Bradshaw.
This is a short walk of around 3.6 miles on mostly flat footpaths, along with some time on roads. There is one short moderately steep climb down, although steps are available for this area.
Some of these paths may become muddy in parts, depending on weather conditions, so it may be advisable to wear sturdy shoes or walking boots/shoes.
Participants are responsible for their own clothing and any liquids for hydration. Along the walk there are stops for refreshments and ice cream at the Jumbles cafe and Bradshaw Fisheries
(see map below).
The walk will start from the Railway (http://www.railwaybromleycross.co.uk/index) car park at 13:15 on Saturday July 11th.
Northern trains run at :02 & :33 past the hour, with a 10 minute journey to Bromley Cross..
Alternatively the 541 bus will take you close to the Railway (alight just after the railway bridge on the way into Bromley Cross and walk 2 minutes). This a 20 minute journey starting from stand E at Bolton interchange @ 12:20.
There is the opportunity to visit several establishments towards and, at the end, of the walk.
● Bradshaw Cricket Club – The Rigbys, BL2 3EL The club serves 1 changing beer usually Bank Top
● The Crofters Arms – 103 Bradshaw Road, BL2 3EW. No cask is available although there is an extensive menu available
● Bradshaw Conservative Club – Lea Gate, BL2 3ET. The Club serves 1 changing beer and 1 regular beer.
● The House Without a Name – 75 Lea Gate, BL2 3ET. The pub serves 3 changing beers and 3 regular beers.
● The Plough Inn – 157 Lea Gate, BL2 4BQ. The pub serves 2 changing beers. There is also a pub food menu available up until 8pm.
● The Nook & Cranny Tap House – 12 Gate Fold, BL2 3HN. The pub serves 2 changing beers, with one usually being Big Trip
● Bill & Coo -2-4 The Hillock, Harwood, BL2 3HP. No cask is available although there is a menu available, generally pizzas, until late.

Sunday 12th July from 2pm – 4pm at B33R@33 – Rawlins Family Cider & Perry Tasting & Cheese Plate – SOLD OUT
Rawlins Family Cider – B33R@33 in Horwich are holding a Cider & Perry Tasting talk with the award winning Rawlins Family Cider, Somerset. Simon Rawlins will be hosting a fantastic cider and perry tasting and cheese plate.
Rawlins are well-known experts in creating keeved cider, hand-picking fruit from Somerset orchards, using natural, wild fermentation, that have a wonderful balance and flavour.
Tickets are just £20 from the bar, which includes 6 different ciders and perries and a delicious cheese plate
